The clarifier tank uses quiescent settling to separate crude palm oil into three distinct layers: clean oil, water, and sludge. Proper clarification is critical to meet international CPO standards for moisture and impurity content before storage or refining.

Working Principle:

Hot crude palm oil from the pressing station enters the clarifier tank through the inlet pipe. Inside the tank, the mixture is allowed to settle under quiescent conditions. Oil, being the lightest phase, rises to the top and overflows into the clean oil collection system. Water and heavier impurities settle in the middle and bottom layers respectively. The sludge is periodically or continuously discharged from the bottom cone for further oil recovery through the decanter or sludge centrifuge.
